For God and Country

Happy Spring Legionnaires!

I would first like to thank all of you who have braved this past year and are currently coming out to join us at Post 240 during our many events throughout the winter. With the weather getting warmer and more people are hitting the water, please be extra careful as we want to see more of you at the Post. If you don’t know what events are going on at the Post, our First Vice Commander and Adjutant, Tony Hammerling, recently emailed out our calendar, but has had surgery recently and will not be available to post a new calendar for at least the next 30 days or more.

Let us not forget that Air Force Reserve is celebrating its 73rd Birthday on April 13th, and the U.S Army Reserve is celebrating its 114th Birthday on April 22rd. One Team, One Fight!

Last, but not least, I would like to extend an invitation to all active members of the American Legion Post 240 to run for or nominate someone for a leadership position for the upcoming 2022-2032 Post Officer Elections. Nominations will be held for Commander, 1st Vice, 2nd Vice, 3rd Vice, Finance Officer, Chaplin, Service Officer, Sgt at Arms, Historian, and five House Committee positions. There are three rounds of nominations, with the second round on April 12th and final round followed by elections on May 10th. If you have not renewed your Legion Membership, please do so prior to the elections. I urge all who have the ability to attend the elections, please do, so your voices can be heard. We will continue to be a smooth operating success with your sustained support.

James “Bo” Waggoner,
Commander

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. Focusing on service to veterans, service members and communities, the Legion evolved from a group of war-weary veterans of World War I into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States.  This year the American legion celebrates its 100th anniversary of service to God and Country!
